Spectrophotometers and colour measurement

Micron Techniques, Ltd is proud to announce that Minolta (UK), Ltd has entrusted the promotion and sale of their Spectrophotometer, the Model CS-1000 to our company. It is designed to measure Luminance and the Spectral content of small light emitting sources.

The instrument consists of an optical head, with operating software, two standard calibrated lenses, analysis software, a power supply, cables and instruction manuals. One lens measures from a spot size of 7.9 mms at a target distance of 380 mms, (then at 1.0 to infinity); the other, a Macro lens, from a spot size of 1.15 mms at a target distance of 50 mms. Levels less than 1.0 cd/m2 can be measured. The optical head contains a 512 element detector, mounted on a thermoelectric cooler, a dispersive grating and see - through optics, providing a wavelength resolution of one nanometer and a spectral accuracy of ± 0.3 nm, better than any other comparable instrument.

The optical head is self contained, in that it will display Luminance, CIE colour co-ordinates and colour temperature on the LCD display and store up to 30 readings. Attaching the unit to the PC based analysis software enables the display of spectral characteristics and all three CIE functions. Data includes luminance (English and Metric units), radiance in watts/steradian/area/nm, colour co-ordinates, (x,y; u,v; u',v'), L,a,b, X,Y,Z; contrast, peak wavelength, dominant wavelength, excitation purity and more. A major feature is the ability to display multiple parameters and graphics for instant comparison. There is also a mathematics function, to enable two spectra to be manipulated in many forms, (for example, to normalise a spectra independent of the light source). All data can be downloaded into Excel and Lotus 1-2-3, for further analysis.

A recent addition is a close - up lens to measure target sizes down to 250 microns diameter, with a sensitivity down to less than 1.0 cd/m2 . Other accessories include neutral density filters, tripods, a CCD based camera attachment to the eyepiece, to observe the target on a TV monitor and calibration software. The complete system can be recalibrated at any time in the Micron Calibration facility in Poole. Also available from Micron are the Luminance and Colour Meters CS-100, CL-100 and LS-100/110.
